Our Story
Shear Pleasure is one of the oldest Beauty Salons in Baytown, Tx. The original owner and stylist has been a Cosmetologist since 1970 and is still working today. Patsy Brandon, originally from Mont Belvieu, is still going strong and one of the best hairstylists, in the area. She has been and still is, a pillar to the Baytown and surrounding communities, since 1968.
In the 1960's, Patsy was married to her high school sweetheart and had two young children. She had a love for doing hair and had a very close relationship with her Aunt, that was a cosmetologist, so she decided to follow in her footsteps. Patsy graduated Cosmetology, in 1970 and worked for a salon in Friendwood, Tx. She would work there, for several years and also give birth to her third child. Patsy, along with her husband and three children, moved back to their hometown, to be close to family and also open up a beauty salon. Shear Pleasure opened its doors, in the spring of 1976 and her Aunt came out of retirement and worked along side of her for the next five years.
During the 1980's, the salon's business steadily grew. Several stylist came to work, for Patsy, some staying for short periods and others staying and building their cosmetology careers. All learned and thrived in the small town salon atmosphere that always made clients and stylists, alike, feel comfortable and cared for.
In 1994, Patsy's third child, Susan, followed her mother and completed cosmetogy and came to work, at the salon. She attending avanced haircutting and coloring classes, which allowed her to become a Color Specialist, in her field. Susan raised three children and has been with Shear Pleasure since 1993. Arin Taylor joined the team, in 2007, as a receptionist, assistant and intregal part of what makes Shear Pleasure so successful today.
Kloe', Susan's third child and Patsy's grandaughter, recieved her cosmotology license, in 2021, starting a fourth generation of hairstylists, in the family. She is currenty, being a stay at home mother to our precious Greenly Reign and will continue her career in the future.
Over the years, stylists and hairstyles have changed, but Patsy, along with Susan and Arin and their passion for making people feel and look beautiful, have remained the same.
